Ruidoso Osos Hold Off White Sands Pupfish 11-8

May 30 2018 The Ruidoso Osos defeated the White Sands Pupfish 11-8 at Griggs Park. Ruidoso built an early lead with four runs in the second inning, then added single runs in the third and fourth to take a 7-3 advantage. The Osos scored twice in the eighth and twice in the ninth to withstand White Sands’ late challenge.

Brock Hartley led Ruidoso with two hits, two runs, two RBI and a home run. Christian Triplett and Jesus Grimaldo each added two hits, while Dillon Fahr and Nick Wagner each scored twice. Ruidoso finished with nine hits and 13 walks. White Sands collected 10 hits, led by Timothy Carter’s three hits and Greg Chavez’s three hits and three RBI. Aaron Sheaks added a triple and two RBI, while Brandon Torres drove in two runs.

Zach Youngberg earned the win for Ruidoso after allowing six hits and six runs, three earned, in six innings. He walked two and struck out six. Max Smith followed with 1.1 innings, allowing four hits and two runs, and Skyler Henderson recorded the final five outs without allowing a hit or a run. White Sands starter Joseph Johnson took the loss after seven innings, allowing six hits and seven runs, six earned, with nine walks and six strikeouts.
